Hello, it’s me…

My name is Sandy Poole Keiter. I’m a video producer/editor/writer with a background in TV news and video production for non-profit organizations. I’ve been around the media and video production worlds a long time, but I’ve really been writing my whole life. (You should see the horrifying poems I wrote in high school. No, wait. You can’t see them.)  Except for the videos I make, I don’t usually show anyone my personal writing. That’s why I’ve decided to come out into the daylight, so to speak, and put it out there for others to see. I usually write essays — opinion pieces on a variety of topics — from politics to motherhood. I’m also working on a memoir. And yes, I’m old enough to have a lot of stories to tell. So, once I figure out how this blog thing works, I’ll join in. Since there is always a song going in my head, each blog title will come from a song in my vast repertoire.

The first thing I learned about blogging was that it is harder than I thought it would be. I figured I could knock out 400 or 500 words once a week with no problem, and I thought about it while walking the dogs. I’m pretty sure I did my best writing while picking up poop. There’s an analogy in there somewhere.

But before long I had exhausted my ideas and had to really scrounge around for something to say. It gave me great appreciation for columnists who have to hand in a thousand words once or twice a week whether they want to or not. On the other hand, they have nothing else to do.

Does Ann Rule know you stole her song lyric/title idea?

No matter, I look forward to reading what you have to say.

Guess I don’t really have anything else to report, or I would have blogged about it by now. Things are the same here – the dogs are in charge and we’re working to keep them in kibble. We have set our collective retirement date for December 1 2016 and while it seems like a long way off, I placate myself by thinking “I’ll only ever work one more January 5th, 6th, 7th…

Can you imagine us years from today,

    Sharing a park bench quietly…
